Third Grade Pass Rates
Overview
The Third Grade Pass Rates page tracks third-grade reading proficiency across the year, the measure governed by the Literacy-Based Promotion Act. It shows each benchmark's pass rate alongside the First Time rate from the state's spring administration, so you can see how your third graders are trending toward the promotion bar.
Pass rates are shown for your district and each school, with the change from one point to the next.
Where It Lives
- The Third Grade Pass Rates tile on your district page opens the view. The tile appears once you have third grade pass rate data.
- The page is also available on a school page, scoped to that school.
- Use the year selector to switch between school years.
- HTML, PDF, and CSV exports are available.
What You'll See
For the district and each school, the page lays out the third-grade reading pass rate at each point in the year:
- Benchmark 1, Benchmark 2, Benchmark 3: the pass rate from your benchmark third-grade reading scores.
- First Time: the First Time Pass Rate from the state's spring file.
- Each rate shows the number passing over the number tested, and the change from the previous point so you can tell whether students are gaining or slipping toward the promotion bar.
What Data Feeds It
- Benchmark rates are calculated from your processed third-grade reading benchmark scores, and refresh as new score files process.
- The First Time rate comes from the Third Grade First Time Pass Rate file your state sends after the spring administration, which a district admin uploads. See Uploading Your Third Grade Pass Rate File.
