Month 8 Enrollments Overview

Only districts with a non-traditional high school (a high school serving grades below 9th grade) have access to the Month 8 Enrollments page.

Month 8 Enrollments provide a breakdown of student enrollment counts used to support accountability calculations for non-traditional high schools. This feature ensures that schools serving both high school students (grades 9–12) and students below 9th grade are evaluated accurately according to Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) business rules.

This process aligns to MDE Accountability Business Rule 1.7, which requires separate calculations for different grade bands when determining a school’s overall performance classification.

How Month 8 Enrollments Are Used

For schools that include 12th grade and grades below 9th grade, the following process is applied:

  1. A separate composite score is calculated for:

    • Students in grades below 9th grade
    • Students in grades 9–12

  2. The composite score for students below 9th grade is transformed to align with the high school accountability scale.

  3. Month 8 enrollment counts are used to determine the percentage of students in each group.

    • All grades are included except grade 9, as those students are accounted for when they reach 10th grade.

  4. Each composite score is weighted based on the percentage of students included in each group.

  5. The weighted scores are combined to produce a final adjusted composite score.

This approach ensures that: - Schools serving mixed grade configurations are evaluated fairly - Performance results accurately reflect the students served - Accountability ratings remain aligned to MDE expectations

Month 8 enrollment data drives the weighting of each grade band, making it a critical component of the final accountability calculation for non-traditional high schools.

Only district and school-level users have access to the Month 8 Enrollments page.

Follow these steps to access:

  1. Navigate to your Equity Analytics homepage and log in.
  2. Click "Click Here to View" next to Month 8 Enrollments on the left hand side of your homepage.

Once on the page, you can view enrollment counts by year, score type, and grade level to understand how student populations contribute to accountability calculations.
