Score Type Assignment from Course Codes

Overview

When student enrollments are imported into the system, each record includes a course code and a grade level. To make results consistent across the platform, Equity Analytics automatically assigns each course to a Score Type category.

These categories (such as MAAP, Feeder, or K-2) determine how the student’s scores are processed and displayed. They also ensure that accountability Impact Projections are generated accurately for districts, schools, and teachers.

This process is handled automatically by the system. If you do not see a course code listed in the sections below and believe it should be included, please open a Helpdesk Ticket for assistance. Our support team can help ensure that the course is mapped correctly.

How It Works

The system checks both the grade and the course code for each enrollment record. Based on the rules below, the system assigns a Score Type.

Each district’s Equity Analytics account includes a custom course mapping that defines which course codes count as MAAP or Feeder courses. While the examples below reflect default statewide settings, districts may adjust their mappings during onboarding or at any time afterward.

  • K-2

    • Assigned if:
      • Grade is 0, 1, or 2
      • AND course code is one of:
        • 239901 – K-6 English Language Arts
        • 329901 – K-6 Reading
        • 279901 – K-6 Math

  • Feeder

    • Assigned if:
      • Grade is 4 and course code is 409904 – Science 4
      • OR course code is one of:
        • 409907 – Science 7
        • 260628 – Foundations of Biology
        • 450835 – World History
        • 230107 – English I
        • 270390 – Foundations of Algebra

  • Gifted

    • Assigned if:
      • Course code is 662001 – Gifted

  • Inclusion

    • Assigned if:
      • Course code starts with 132 – all SPED classes

  • MAAP

    • Assigned if:
      • Grades 3–6 and course code is:
        • 239901 – K-6 English Language Arts
        • 329901 – K-6 Reading
        • 279901 – K-6 Math
      • OR course code is one of:
        • 230101 – English 7
        • 230104 – English 8
        • 230110 – English II
        • 270101 – Math 7
        • 270710 – Math Compacted 7
        • 270720 – Math 8
        • 270721 – Math Compacted 8
        • 270404 – Algebra I
        • 450811 – U.S. History
        • 409905 – Science 5
        • 409909 – Science 8
        • 260131 – Biology I

  • Other

    • If a course does not match any of the rules above, it will not be imported.
    • This prevents invalid or unrecognized enrollments from being included.
    • If you believe a valid course is missing, please open a Helpdesk Ticket.
