Score Flags
Overview
Every score Equity Analytics stores carries a set of flags that describe what kind of score it is and how it is grouped. Those flags decide which impacts a score rolls into, which subgroup it belongs to, and how it reads on the tracker. This page is a plain-language glossary of the flags you will run into.
What the score is
- K-2: a kindergarten, first, or second grade score. K-2 is tracked on its own and is not part of the grades 3-12 accountability calculations.
- Banked: a high-school score earned early and held until the student reaches 10th grade. The usual cases are 8th-grade compacted math and 9th-grade Algebra I, Biology I, or English II. Banked scores are set aside from current impact and counted later, following state rules.
- Compacted: a course taken ahead of grade level, for example an 8th grader in the high-school math course. A compacted score is kept under its own key so it does not collide with the student's on-grade score.
- Feeder: a score from a course that prepares students for next year's state assessment rather than measuring the current year. Feeder scores are excluded from current impact and shown separately.
- SCD: a self-contained / alternate-assessment (MAAP-A) student. SCD scores use the alternate performance-level scale.
Which subgroup the score belongs to
These flags drive which subgroup a score, and the teacher impact it rolls into, belongs to:
- SPED: special education.
- Gifted: gifted enrollment.
- EL: English learner.
You can read a teacher's tracker by subgroup using these. See Score Tracker.
End-of-Course rows in a benchmark tracker
If your district gives the End-of-Course (EOC) exam to 10th graders in the fall and uploads those scores, the EOC result is mixed into the benchmark views for the rest of that year (see the note under Impact Components). On a benchmark tracker you may then see an EOC row sitting alongside the benchmark-period scores.
That row is there on purpose: it is the student's real end-of-year result, and it is flagged (banked) so you can tell it apart from the benchmark-period score. If your district does not give the EOC in the fall, you will not see these rows.
