Acceleration Metrics
Overview
The Acceleration Metric represents a student's participation and performance in qualifying acceleration coursework aligned to Mississippi’s accountability model.
Each student can contribute to acceleration through enrollment and successful completion of:
- Advanced Placement (AP)
- Dual Credit / Dual Enrollment (DC)
- Industry Certification (CTE)
Acceleration Metrics are automatically generated once a district provides the applicable course codes for Advanced Placement, Dual Credit / Dual Enrollment, and Industry Certification courses and the feature is enabled.
To enable Acceleration Metrics, please open a Helpdesk Ticket and provide the course codes used by your district for each acceleration category. Once configured, Equity Analytics will automatically identify qualifying student enrollments and generate acceleration projections at the student, school, and district level.
How It Works
Acceleration Metrics are not entered manually. They are generated using a student’s course enrollments and outcomes.
The system automatically:
- Identifies qualifying courses using district-provided course codes
- Assigns participation when a student is enrolled in a qualifying course
- Assigns performance when a student successfully completes the course
- Aggregates student results to calculate school and district acceleration projections
Once course codes are configured, all metrics update automatically as new enrollment and performance data becomes available.
Example
Example student acceleration record:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Student Name | Jordan Carter |
| School | Magnolia High School |
| Grade | 11 |
| Industry Participation | 1 Course |
| Industry Performance | 1 Course |
| Participation Fraction | 1 / 1 |
| Performance Fraction | 1.0 / 1 |
Accountability Projection
Student acceleration metrics are aggregated to calculate projected accountability points.
These projections are available at:
- School level
- District level
Example school projection:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Acceleration Participation | 16.2 Points |
| Acceleration Performance | 24.8 Points |
| Acceleration Total | 41.0 Points |
These projections update automatically as student data changes.
Example school projection (fraction):
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Acceleration Participation Fraction | 52.0 / 84 |
| Acceleration Performance Fraction | 68.5 / 66 |
| Acceleration Total Points | 41.0 Points |
The Participation Fraction represents the number of qualifying student participations divided by the total eligible student count.
The Performance Fraction represents the number of successful acceleration outcomes divided by the total eligible student count.
These fractions are used to calculate projected acceleration accountability points. All projections update automatically as student enrollment and performance data changes.
Course Code Configuration
Acceleration Metrics are generated using course codes provided by the district.
Districts define which course codes qualify for:
- Advanced Placement
- Dual Credit / Dual Enrollment
- Industry Certification
Equity Analytics uses these course codes to identify qualifying enrollments and calculate acceleration projections automatically.
Notes
- Each student contributes based on participation and successful completion.
- Participation and performance are calculated separately.
- Course codes must be configured for accurate identification.
- Metrics update automatically as student records change.
- CSV and PDF exports are available for reporting.
