Alternative School ID Routing

Overview

The Alternative School ID feature allows Equity Analytics to attribute teachers and students to a different school for accountability calculations than the school where they are physically enrolled.

This ensures that accountability projections, impacts, and performance metrics align with how the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) assigns accountability responsibility.

This is especially important when students are served at alternative campuses or program locations but remain accountable to their home school.

Why This Is Needed

In many districts, students may receive services at a different physical location than their accountability school. For example, students may be enrolled at:

Even though these students are physically served at another location, MDE accountability calculations often continue to attribute those students to their original home school.

Without proper routing, accountability projections could incorrectly assign these students to the serving location rather than the accountable school. This would result in inaccurate projections and misalignment with official accountability determinations.

The Alternative School ID feature ensures students are attributed to the correct school for accountability purposes.

How It Works

When an Alternative School ID is configured for a school, Equity Analytics automatically attributes students enrolled at that school to the designated alternative school for accountability calculations.

This means:

This routing happens automatically and consistently across the platform.

What This Affects

Alternative School ID routing applies to all accountability-related calculations, including:

This ensures projections accurately reflect how students will be counted in official accountability determinations.

Example Scenario

A district operates an Early College campus where students from multiple high schools attend to participate in dual credit and advanced academic programs.

Even though students attend the Early College campus for instruction, accountability responsibility remains with their home high school.

With Alternative School ID routing configured:

This ensures accountability projections align with how students are officially attributed for accountability purposes while still allowing districts to operate specialized campuses.

When to Use This Feature

This feature should be used when students are physically served at one school but accountability responsibility belongs to another school.

Common examples include:

This feature should not be used when students should be fully attributed to their enrolled school for accountability purposes.
