Subject Assignment from Course Codes (MAAP Courses)
Overview
When you upload course records into the system, each course has a course code that identifies the class a student is enrolled in.
Equity Analytics automatically uses these codes to determine which students are expected to take the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) end-of-year state assessments.
These course codes represent official MAAP-tested courses. Students enrolled in these courses are included in state testing projections, accountability components, and growth calculations.
If you do not see a course code listed below and believe it should be included, please contact support@equityanalyticsms.com for assistance. Our support team can confirm whether the course is eligible or help you update your district’s course mappings.
How It Works
When course records are uploaded, the system reviews each course code and assigns it to a subject category.
If the course code matches one of the MAAP-tested subjects below, the student will be flagged as expected to test in that subject for accountability purposes.
If it does not match, the record will not be imported into MAAP-based reports.

Other
- If a course code does not match any of the MAAP-tested subjects above, it will not be imported into MAAP reports.
- This helps ensure only valid, tested subjects are included in accountability calculations.
Why This Matters
- Alignment: Ensures students are correctly identified for MAAP testing and accountability purposes.
- Consistency: All users see the same subject classifications statewide.
- Accuracy: Prevents untested or local courses from appearing in MAAP-related reports.
- Automation: The system automatically handles subject assignment — no manual tagging needed.
Tip for Districts: Regularly verify that your SIS exports the correct MAAP course codes. If a code isn’t listed here, it won’t appear in MAAP projections or accountability reports.
