Subject Assignment from Course Codes (Feeder Courses)

Overview

Feeder courses represent locally-taught classes that prepare students for MAAP-tested subjects.
These courses are not directly tied to state testing but help districts track readiness, growth, and instructional alignment leading up to MAAP assessments.

Unlike MAAP courses, feeder course mappings are flexible and can vary by district.
Each district can customize which course codes correspond to feeder English, Math, Science, and History during the Equity Analytics onboarding process.

If your district uses different course codes for these subjects, our team will work with you to confirm and adjust them during setup.

How It Works

When course records are uploaded, Equity Analytics reviews each course code to determine whether it matches a feeder course. Students enrolled in feeder courses are included in readiness and growth tracking, but not MAAP accountability calculations.

The default feeder course mappings are provided below. These serve as the starting point for all new accounts and can be updated per district as needed.

Important Update: U.S. History as a Feeder Course

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, U.S. History is no longer part of the official Mississippi Accountability Model. Although it remains an essential course for instruction and student readiness, it is no longer included in the MAAP-tested accountability components. Districts across the state continue to provide benchmark assessments for U.S. History to maintain instructional quality and ensure college and career readiness. In Equity Analytics, U.S. History has therefore been reclassified as a feeder course to preserve visibility in reports and allow districts to continue tracking growth and performance trends for this subject.

Why This Matters

Tip for Districts: Feeder course mappings will be confirmed during your district’s Equity Analytics onboarding. If your SIS uses different course codes, share your course export with support@equityanalyticsms.com so our team can customize your mappings.
