Duplicate Score Handling

Overview

When you upload student score files into Equity Analytics, the system automatically checks for duplicates so that each student has only one record per test.

If a student appears more than once in your file, for example if the same student took a benchmark two times, the system will keep the last score it processes and ignore earlier scores. This ensures your reports always reflect the most recent and accurate data.

How It Works

  1. The system reviews each score in your file one by one.
Every score is given a unique "fingerprint" based on the student, subject, test type, year, and quarter.

  2. If a matching score already exists:
The system recognizes it as a duplicate and updates that record instead of creating a new one.

    • This means the older version is replaced with the most recent data.
    • If the same student and test combination appears twice in your upload, the second one wins.
  3. If no match is found:
The system treats it as a brand new score and adds it to the database.

  4. Once all records are processed:
Only the most recent version of each student's score is saved. No duplicates, no confusion.

Why This Matters

Tip for Districts: If you run benchmark or interim assessments multiple times, it is best to export only the final results. But even if duplicates are present, Equity Analytics will automatically keep the last score it processes and ignore earlier scores. This ensures your reports always reflect the most recent and accurate data.
